Urgent Message to all Members: Tudor Grange Pool

Dear Members

We had a meeting with Everyone Active this morning (13th Sept) at which it was confirmed that all pools at Tudor Grange will be closed from Monday 5th November until mid-March to enable essential maintenance work to take place.  Clearly this prevents us with a significant challenge and there will, inevitably, be disruption to our sessions.  Water time is scarce to obtain but they have offered us two sessions at North Solihull, which we have accepted, and we will be urgently pursuing other alternatives to fill the gaps left by the closure.  Please be assured that we will try to keep disruption to a minimum.

Further communication to follow.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Nick Pemberton
SSC Chair

2018 Swim England Membership Fees

The 2018 Swim England (formerly ASA) membership fees are due for payment in January.

The amount payable is £18 for each category 1 (teaching) member and £35 for each category 2 (competing) member.

The vast majority of club members are now signed up to GoCardless and this is a tremendous help to our volunteers administrators.  So we shall be using the GoCardless system to collect the Swim England fees and we shall be doing it on 1st February.

The small number of members who are not yet signed up to GoCardless need to pay their membership fee before 1st February using one of the following methods:
  • BACS transfer to Soliohull Swimming Club (sort code 601914; account number 26544466) with the reference "Swim England fee"
  • Cheque made payable to Solihull Swimming Club (please give directly to Sandra, Karen or Mike or post - see addresses in this letter - click here.

We shall write to you separately advising you how much to pay.

Note that the Swim England fee covers, amongst other things, your insurance (details of which can be found onthe Swim England website) so it is essential that you pay it by the due date to avoid the risk of not being covered in which case you would not be allowed to enter the water.

Whilst writing, club members, parents and guardians are respectively reminded of the following:

  • Please inform us of any changes of address, phone number or email address.
  • If you wish to leave the club, please inform Sandra or Karen.
  • Monthly membership fess are paid in arrears (e.g. payment of 28th January covers swimming for the month of January).
  • Fees are still payable during holiday periods regardless of whether or not you attend.  Please keep us informed of any long term absences so we can come to an arrangement about ongoing membership.
  • Follow us on Twitter @solihullsc, "like" us on Facebook (Solihull Swimming Club) or see this website for news, information and updates.

Finally, we wish everyone a happy and successful 2018.

Membership Fees Update

The Club Committee is pleased to inform you that, thanks to improved revenue from higher membership numbers, we are able to postpone until later in the year the monthly membership fee increases that were agreed at last yearís Annual General Meeting and were due to be implemented on 1st April.

Also on the subject of fees, we would like to thank all of you who have signed up to pay their monthly fees by direct debit.   The collection of membership fees is very time-consuming and using a direct debit system does help to reduce the workload of our loyal volunteers.   So we would be most grateful if those of you that havenít already signed up to GoCardless could please do so.

Move to Direct Debit system for collecting monthly club fees

Notice to all members
Please note that, at our recent Annual General Meeting, the club agreed to move to a direct debit system for collecting monthly club fees.  We have signed up to a system named GoCardless and you will shortly be receiving an automated email from our Treasurer, Mike Beard, requesting the information required to set up your monthly payment.  Note that you need to sign up by the 20th of the month in order for your direct debit to be collected on the normal payment date of the 28th of the month.  Once you have agreed to move onto direct debit, please ensure that you then cancel your standing order.
Thank you for your co-operation.

Bob Floyd

We are very saddened to learn that our legendary former Head Coach, Bob Floyd, passed away on Friday 9th December.  Bob coached at our club for well over 40 years right up until the start of this year and he was Head Coach for over 30 years during which time he developed us from being just a teaching club to being a strong competitive club.  Always smiling and chirpy, Bob was a ray of sunshine on the poolside and we are deeply indebeted to him for his friendship and his unparalleled service to our club.
