Times And Selections

Times & Club Records

The time for each swim in a gala, open meet or time trial is recorded and maintained in a club database. This database is then used to produce reports to aid team selection, group movements and produce progress reports. Competitive swimmers will receive regular updates of their “personal best” times for each stroke over various distances.

The club also maintains a list of club records achieved at the annual Club Championships held in July each year.

Selection Policy

Team selection is based predominantly on the rankings produced from swimmers personal bests', bearing in mind the rules of the particular competition, the current form of the swimmer and the time entry conditions. This may result in members of the same family being selected for different venues on the same evening.

Members selected to swim will be informed via email. Swimmers will not be told before the gala which events they are expected to swim. Flexibility is expected from swimmers to ensure the best result for the team and to cover changes due to injury or illness. Swimmers may not necessarily be given an individual swim in a team gala but four swimmers are essential for relays. If you cannot swim it is important to notify the Head Coach as soon as possible, since in most instances a replacement swimmer will need to be notified.
It is worth noting that Open Meets are available for swimmers who wish to swim specific strokes and distances.
