Introduction To Water Polo

Water polo is a team game which is closely related to swimming and shares the same National Governing Body as swimming - the Amateur Swimming Association.

Solihull Swimming Club has a very active and successful water polo section which is an integral part of the Club.

Swimming fitness is essential for water polo success and the players are actively encouraged to continue with their swimming training when they take up water polo. The Club's success is underpinned by a very strong junior development programme which is open to both boys and girls.

The senior men's team competes at national level in the British Water Polo League as well as at Midland League and County level. The Club also competes very successfully in various age group championships and competitions for juniors (under 18), youths (under 16) and academy (under 14).

The Club has produced a number of junior international players over the years up to and including the present day and Great Britain's men's and women's teams at the 2012 Olympics each contained one of our former proteges.

Our water polo section is Swim21 accredited at the Skill Development level.
