Volunteers
We are really grateful to our team of parent volunteers who take on a number of roles to support the running of the club. We have poolside helpers who take registers for the sessions, dig out spare kit for inevitable forgotten items and get well-practiced at assisting the junior members with putting on their swimming caps! Our Team Managers undergo training to be able to assist our swimmers poolside at meets - making sure the swimmers are ready for their races, briefed by the coaches and marshalled on time. They make sure that the race organisers are aware of any special dispensations required and endlessly answer "how long until my next race?" We also have a group of trained timekeepers and officials who make sure that swimmers times are recorded accurately and races are undertaken fairly.

We are always in need of additional volunteers and some information on the roles can be found here. Please contact any of the club staff if you are interested.

Please reach out to any of our friendly volunteers if you need a hand!
Volunteering Roles
Here is some information about the range of roles that we rely on volunteers to fulfil. If you are interested in helping with any of these roles, please speak to a member of the SSC team.

Squad Support
Providing poolside support to our coaches and swimmers during training sessions - taking the register, helping with lane ropes, being a point of contact for the club. No training required and you only need to be available for sessions that your child is attending.

Team Manager
Helping on poolside at open meets and galas. Getting swimmers ready for their races on time. DBS check and online training required, covered by the club. You'll get the benefit of free entry to the meets and usually a free lunch too!

Officials
We have an obligation to provide trained timekeepers and officials for all the open meets and leagues that we attend as a club, to ensure smooth running and fair adjudication of the events. Training is required and this is covered by the club. You'll get to attend the meets free of charge and the club will provide your official's top!

Committee Member
We have a number of spaces for 'ordinary members' on our committee and it's really important that we hear a range of views representing the diversity of our club. We ask for a commitment of 4 meetings per year, usually held on a weekday evening and can be attended via Zoom.

Fundraising
We need a group of volunteers to support the club with fundraising activities. This could include organising the end-of-year social, raffles and applying for grants. This is a role that could be done in your own time, or perhaps while you're sat on poolside every night of the week!

Secretariat Roles
Our secretariat roles are shown on the Committee page. Many of the roles could be shared across multiple individuals, so if any are of interest please let us know!
